Dr. Jake Bruton grew up in Clifton, Virginia. He took a longer route into veterinary medicine after playing college baseball and graduating with an Economics degree in 2007. He managed to sneak in the back door of the VA-MD Regional College of Veterinary Medicine by cleaning the floors and later becoming a technician in the Large Animal Hospital. Prior to graduating Vet School, he spent time working with cattle and small ruminants on several farms, livestock auctions, a slaughter facility, and showed pigs at the VA State Fair. Dr. Jake currently resides on a small farm in Floyd with his wife, Taunya, and two young boys, Jase and Davis. They enjoy raising sheep, meat goats, calves, and chicken eggs. Dr. Jake’s special interests include reproductive management and herd health.
